Mara is the resting place of the big five, the reserves main attraction is the great wildebeest and zebras migration from Serengeti in Tanzania to the Mara. This annual event happens between July and September. This animals cross over to Kenya through Mara River. You are bound to see the crocodiles lazing away under the water only to dramatically break out their sleep and snap up the Wildebeest and Zebras migrating.
The reserve was shooting location of the film OUT OF AFRICA and remains the location for the British Broadcasting corporation BIG CAT DIARY wild life series.
